Artist Bio:
Philip Busey Jr. holds a Bachelor of Arts from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and a Master of Liberal Arts from Oklahoma City University. Philip first picked up a camera in 2002 while participating in an internship through the Washington Semester Program at American University in Washington, DC. His photographs from the internship were showcased in a solo exhibit at SWOSU which propelled him into becoming a photographer for the weekly student newspaper, a daily newspaper and photographer for the university’s public relations office while completing his undergraduate degree. Philip put down his camera in 2004 but went back to photography in late 2015 as a hobby, focusing on landscape and architecture.
In addition to his photography pursuits, he serves as a trustee for several nonprofits and arts-focused organizations. He has received numerous community and civic awards including 2017 distinguished alumni of the Petree College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma City University. Philip is an executive with Delaware Resource Group, a leading global aerospace defense services company owned and operated by the Busey family and headquartered in Oklahoma City. Philip lives in the historic Heritage Hills neighborhood of Oklahoma City with his wife, Heather, and their two sons.
